This week Y5/6 went to Blists Hill Victorian town in Ironbridge, Shropshire. For part of the day, the children experienced a Victorian school day including writing on slates, drill in the playground and reciting times tables. The children looked amazing dressed in their Victorian costumes and they played the part of Victorian schoolchildren very well!
Highlights included the bakery, candle factory, fairground, chip shop and sweet shop. The school room experience made us appreciate 21st century teachers and lessons a lot more too!
The trip was extremely worthwhile as it was as 'real life' as it possibly could be for the children without going back in time to 1900. A great time was had by all!
