Important Changes to the School Uniform Policy

We are making some changes to the school uniform policy in relation to PE and Games kit.  From September 2015 the kit will change to include the following items;-

  • White polo shirt (embroidered with the school badge)
  • Royal blue sweatshirt with school badge
  • Royal blue jogging bottoms

All of these items can be purchased from our school uniform stockist, Cain of Heswall.  Some pupils already wear the school sweatshirt as an alternative to the school jumper or cardigan.  In the summer term and at the start of the autumn term pupils are able to wear the royal blue shorts as an alternative to the jogging bottoms.

The key reason for this change is to maximise the time available for PE and Games and reduce the time wasted for getting changed into and out of kit.  It also overcomes the problem of pupils not having kit in school or kit getting lost.  Suitable areas for our older pupils to get changed is a further problem that will be solved with this change.  Three classes have been trialling this format during the summer term and it has proved to be successful.  This change is also in line with the policy of some of our local primary schools and will help us to further support the government’s promotion of sport and exercise for children as part of the ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ agenda.

At the start of the new school year, you will be informed what day your child will be doing PE.  On this day they will be taught two lessons (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon) of indoor PE and outdoor PE/Games.  They are to come to school in their polo shirt, school tracksuit and trainers.  Pupils will also still need their pumps which should be in a named pump bag and remain in school during the year.
