We are very proud of our links with the Rock of Joy Trust, and our partner school, Rock of Joy, Masaka, and are proud to have the charitable foundation as one of our two key local charities that we support. This charity was chosen as we want our children to develop an understanding of the different lifestyles and experiences of children in different areas of the world, as well as allow our children to be advocates for change, improving the lives and opportunities of other children in God's world.
We want our children to show courageous advocacy through challenging injustice. Courageous advocacy and social action seek to move beyond ‘simple solutions ’to ask why and what can be done about it? As well as fundraising for the Rock of Joy Trust, we have implemented opportunities for the children to ask why?
We seek to enable this deeper thinking through worships which focus on the Rock of Joy Trust’s work in Uganda implementing a study of Uganda into our curriculum, studying Fairtrade in KS2, as well as thematic afternoons focussing on our own key basic knowledge, the value of social action and the power of understanding.
In addition, throughout the year we actively seek opportunities to fundraise for our charities, some of which can be seen below. The impact of our fundraising can be seen at the bottom of this page.
