SmartPhones

Over the academic year 2025-2026 we underwent some training for parents and thenm consultations about developing a share approach to the use of SmartPhones. This was as a result of:

  • the Government concern around the impact of social media and the national agenda
  • awareness raised by the Smartphpne free childhood movement
  • schools observations of the impact of SmartPhones on children
  • Ongoing issues with misuse of social media by Year 5 and 6 children (namely WhatsApp and Messenger)

As a result, as from September 2026 we now do not allow any children to bring a SmartPhpne into school. If Year 6's want a phpne for walking home with they need to bring in a 'brick' phone. We also ask parents to keep all devices out of site whilst on the school grounds as we believe it is importnat as adults to model a healthy approach to phone use.
